The inspiration for her music comes from Cara's personal struggle to overcome mental health problems and insomnia. In an Reuters interview she describes her album as half tumultuous and half complete. The therapy she received made her stronger and she encourages people to try it too. Alessia Cara was born to Italian parents on July 11th, 1996. Her parents gifted her with an instrument when she was 10. That was her first step with music. She began to cover the songs she loved at thirteen to show the world she had the skills and the determination required to be the next singer. Sweater Weather was the most well-known album. A record label, EP Entertainment, noticed her and allowed her write songs.
